I've been busy with several projects (this website being one of them!) and so I haven't had time to do any personal work. But the good news is that I have been enjoying working on a new book project SO SO much. I have to say that a lot of it is because I have a new Mac Mini which I purchased last month, and it's literally changed my life! Good-bye to the days of waiting forever to save a huge file. These days, this is a big deal because my Photoshop files can easily have between 300 to 500 layers each.
I've been creating some little birds for some of the illustrations in the book. I can't show finals here until the book is published, but here is a sneak peak.
Since taking Lilla Rogers' MATS Bootcamp, I have found myself adjusting my work process, and I'm really thrilled. It's a way of working that really encourages a lot of experimentation and happy surprises. Rather than planning a piece out from beginning to end the way I used to, I am now doing bits and pieces and then assembling them together. I love it because it is in the same spirit as collage, which I love. The main difference is that it is digital. With my new computer though, this is not a problem. Also, I love the freedom and control I can get with the computer that I didn't have doing things manually, because I had to commit to gluing things down!
