Yay! Today is the official birthday for Let's Go to the Hardware Store by Anne Rockwell. I visited PS 11 in Brooklyn for their annual Book Bash today and read to the kids there. They were all so enthusiastic and lovely.
I brought my tool box filled with "tools" that I made the day before by gluing my artwork onto foam core and cutting out the shapes.
Before I read the book, I showed each tool and had them guess what it was called.
If it was a more obscure tool for them, like a level, I explained what it was and how it is used. I have to say, it was much more fun to use these mini toy like ones than real ones!
A group of authors and illustrators were invited to read today, and after our class visits, we convened in the library for a nice chat and lunch.
Thank you so much, P.S. 11 for hosting a wonderful event and inviting me to participate! :)
