Visits
One of the best things about what I do is meeting and connecting with kids of all ages and sharing my love for books with them.
I have been a volunteer with Learning Leaders for seven years now, visiting various public schools in the New York City area. It has been such a pleasure to meet with the students and hear their stories.
I have also made visits to private schools all over the country. Depending on the needs of the students and the size of the school, I can do large scale presentations (in an auditorium or library). I can also do smaller workshops with one or two classes that is more hands on. I have done this in classrooms, libraries, and even a school cafeteria.
I usually read stories to the children, talk about how I paint and how a book gets published, as well as do a related craft activity with them.
