Book Release
I am very excited to announce that my newest book, Soup Day, will be released by Henry Holt on September 28, 2010. It is especially dear to me because it is the first book I have both written and illustrated. It’s a story about a mother and daughter and their time spent making soup together on a snowy wintry day.
Soup Day celebrates the joy of cooking with children and sharing the experience of creating a meal together. It brings together my two passions: cooking and making art. I was inspired by my experiences cooking with my son, Jamie..

Winner of a Cooking Light Contest!
My recipe for Grilled Portobello Mushroom and Eggplant Parmesan Rounds was chosen as the winner of the Cooking Light Ultimate Reader Recipe Contest! A big thanks to all who voted for my dish! It was 30% of the final decision.
Cooking Blog
I started a cooking blog this year to share my recipes and to chronicle my cooking and crafting experiences with children. Most of the recipes are really easy to follow and very kid-friendly!

Redesign of My Website
A redesign of my site was long overdue. I did my last one right before Jamie was born.
He’s starting 1st grade this fall.
It’s taken me awhile, because I’ve been busy with work, life, etc. But also because I did everything myself, from the design and creation of graphics to the coding (and I’m not a techy!).
I’ve added some new sections to the site, including this News page, which I will keep updating. Here, you will find event dates and press releases.
I have also added a Fun section for children where you can find free activities you can download and print, such as puzzles, craft ideas, and recipes.
There is a new Visits section where I describe what kinds of things I do when I visit schools and libraries. Please contact me if you are interested in having me visit your school.
