I'm originally from the central coast of California, born and raised in a town called Lompoc (pronounced "Lompoke"). I moved to New York after receiving my BFA from Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, where I studied Illustration. It took awhile to get established, and I struggled for a several years, working full time and freelancing on the side. These days, I enjoy living in Brooklyn with my husband, Denis, and raising our two-year old son, Jamie. When I am not chasing him, I still illustrate children's books!

My rep, Chris Tugeau - www.catugeau.com got me my first job in 1998. Since then, I've illustrated a variety of books.

Current Books

The first trade book that I illustrated came out in April of 2000. It's called Night Shift Daddy and it is written by Eileen Spinelli. It's a wonderful story about a little girl and her father, who works the night shift.

Gramps and the Fire Dragon was published in 2001. This one is an action-packed fantasy and follows the adventures of Jesse and his grandfather, Gramps. I used pictures of my husband, Denis, when he was young as a model for Jesse, and Denis' father, a real-life grandfather now, as a model for Gramps.

A seasonal book, Chanukah Lights Everywhere was published that year as well. It takes place in our neighborhood of Brooklyn Heights and has many cats in it!

The Beeman is written by Laurie Krebs about her husband, the Beeman. It is a fun book that tells about the joy of beekeeping through the eyes of the Beeman's granddaughter.

Big Bad Wolf tells the tale of who the REAL wolf is. This one has dye-cut holes that help to tell this sweet, humorous story.

Every kid loves to climb into bed with their parents. Snuggle Mountain tells of a little girl's adventure climbing snuggle mountain and facing the two-headed giant.

B is for Bulldozer: A Construction ABC is an alphabet book that is chock full of trucks and construction equipment, as well as a big amusement park at the end which all the workers have been building throughout the year.

Good Night Engines is a good night book for young little engines everywhere, who love trains, planes, trucks, and cars.

My husband, Denis, wrote The Great Stroller Adventure before our son, Jamie, was even a twinkle in my eye. Now, it's one of Jamie's favorite books having a topic he can easily relate to. This book encourages toddlers to imagine all the wonderful things their strollers can be: a firetruck, fighter jet, or racing car...

For kids who are fascinated with tools, Toolbox Twins is the perfect book to learn about them as well as the joy of fixing things.

This coming winter, Green as a Bean will be published by Laura Geringer Books, an imprint of Harper Collins. This is one of my personal favorites, as it challenged me to move out of my comfort zone, in terms of painting.

Wake Up Engines, the sequel to Good Night Engines, will come out in the spring of 2007. It has a brand new cast of engines, and this time, the story is about getting ready to start the day.
